about

Emilio was initially known as Teddy in 1972 when his fellow law school students signed him up for a singing contest which he won handily. He was then invited by legendary musician/producer Durval Ferreira to record a single under the “Teddy” pseudonym, which was the song “Summer Holiday” written by Tony Temple and Dell Clyde. This song was also included on the Explosão Mundial compilation LP on the Square label. Around the same time he was also adding his name to the long list of crooners to have passed through the ranks of Ed Lincoln’s band.
He recorded his first single under his real name for Polydor in 1973, containing “Saravá Ô Nêga” (Odibar) and “Transa De Amor” (Sebastião Tapajós-Marilena Amaral). This was followed in 1975 by his debut LP on the CID label, which of course contains “Bananeira.”
1983’s “Mais Que Um Momento” is Emilio’s tenth album and one Emilio himself regarded very highly, being the album where he flirted most heavily with US R&B and funk.
At a gathering of friends, Pedro Baldanza (Som Nosso De Cada Dia) and Piska (Casa Das Máquinas) showed Emilio a new song they had just written called “Mais Que Um Momento.” Emilio fell in love with the song after hearing Pedro and Piska play it on acoustic guitars and sing it, and immediately said “I want to record this song!” Arranged, as usual, by Lincoln Olivetti, the basic tracks were cut at Lincoln’s studio in Jacarepaguá while the vocals, mix and mastering were done at Polygram’s studio in Barra da Tijuca.

Sonar Kollektiv Berlin, Germany

Sonar Kollektiv was founded in 1997 by Jazzanova. Designed as a platform for own releases it soon attracted numerous new discoveries and like-minded musicians to lead their trumps right here. Still it was never the intention of SK to pursue one specific sound or provide an already existing scene. Each and every release on the label was meant to illustrate the musical taste of the collective. ... more
